Status Report Generator

Fill a short form and get a formatted weekly status report plus a matching email draft.

How it works

  1. 1Fill in the form on the left. It opens with a worked example — overwrite it rather than starting from a blank page.
  2. 2Pick an overall RAG status and say in one sentence why. A colour without a reason is the most common failing of a status report.
  3. 3The document on the right updates as you type. That is exactly what gets printed.
  4. 4Save it as a PDF through your browser’s print dialog, or copy the whole thing as an email with one click.

Common questions

How does the PDF get made?
Through your browser’s own print dialog — choose Save as PDF as the destination. Nothing is sent to a server, which is also why there is no watermark and no account.
Why does it insist on a reason for the RAG status?
Because "Amber" on its own tells the reader nothing and invites them to ask the question in the meeting instead. One sentence naming the specific thing turns a colour into information.
What should go in "Decisions needed"?
The things you need from the person reading it, with a date. This is the section that makes a status report worth sending — everything above it is history, this is the ask.
Can I change the sections?
Leave a field empty and its section disappears from the document. The layout is fixed otherwise, deliberately — a status report that looks the same every week is far easier to read than one that is redesigned each time.
Is anything saved?
No. Close the tab and it is gone, so print or copy before you leave.

Stop retyping the numbers every week

PlanView reads the progress, the late work and the milestone dates out of your plan file, so the factual half of this report writes itself and only the commentary is yours.
