Spreadsheet Viewer
Open an Excel or CSV file in your browser with no Excel installed — every sheet, searchable, nothing uploaded.
Shows the values, not the formatting: charts, images, colours and macros are not displayed, and a formula shows the result Excel last saved. Password-protected files need unlocking first.

How it works
- 1Drop an Excel, CSV, TSV or OpenDocument file onto the page. It opens showing a sample until you do.
- 2Every sheet in the workbook gets its own tab. Dates show as dates and percentages as percentages, the way Excel would show them.
- 3Search filters the rows to the ones containing your text, and each row keeps its original number.
- 4Download the sheet you are looking at as a CSV if you need to take the data somewhere else.
Common questions
- Which file types can it open?
- Excel workbooks (.xlsx, .xlsm, .xlsb and the older .xls), OpenDocument spreadsheets (.ods), and CSV or TSV text files.
- Will it show my charts, colours and formatting?
- No. It shows the values in the cells. Charts, images, cell colours, conditional formatting and macros are not displayed, and a formula shows the result Excel last saved rather than being recalculated.
- Can I edit the file?
- No, it is a viewer. To fix the layout of a messy export, use the Spreadsheet Cleaner and download the tidied file.
- Why did my file not open?
- A password-protected workbook has to be unlocked in Excel first, and a file over 25 MB is too large to open here. A file that is really a different type with an Excel extension will not open either — open it in its own program and save it as .xlsx or .csv.
- Is my file uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is opened in your browser and never leaves your device.
Is the file a project schedule?
The Project File Viewer opens schedules from Excel, CSV, Microsoft Project and Primavera and shows them as a task list and a timeline, with a plain-English health summary.
