Age Calculator
Exact age or the gap between two dates, in years, months and days, plus the countdown to the next birthday.
How it works
- 1Enter a birth date (or any earlier date — this works as a general date-difference calculator too).
- 2The "as of" date opens on today; change it to measure the gap to any other date instead.
- 3The result is a calendar-accurate years/months/days breakdown, not a day count divided by 30 and 365 — a difference of "1 year, 2 months, 3 days" lands on the same date it names, borrowing from the calendar's real month lengths.
- 4Total days, weeks and months, and a countdown to the next birthday, are shown alongside it.
Common questions
- Why does the day/month/year answer not match totalDays ÷ 30 ÷ 12?
- Months are not a fixed length. February has 28 or 29 days; others have 30 or 31. This counts calendar months and days the way you would by hand — reaching the same date the following month, however many days that took — rather than assuming every month is the same length.
- What happens to a 29 February birthday in a non-leap year?
- The next-birthday countdown treats it as 28 February in a year that has no 29th, then returns to the 29th the next time one comes around.
- Can I use this for something other than a birthday?
- Yes — both dates are plain date fields, so it works as a general-purpose date-difference calculator: time until a deadline, age of a contract, gap between two events.
- Does it account for time zones?
- No — both dates are read as calendar dates with no time-of-day component, so the answer does not depend on where you are.
Counting working days instead of calendar days?
The Working-Days Calculator counts business days between two dates with weekends and your country’s public holidays taken out.
